A sweet and different type of tamal for family or special gatherings.
1 Tamale Kit
2 packages Dried Bing Cherries or Dried Tart Cherries
24 ounces chocolate chips, semi sweet or milk chocolate
1 cup sour cream
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 Meyer lemons, cut in half and juiced
Make tamales as instructed on the back of the kit using the cherries and chocolate chips as the filling. Then wrap in the husks and steam as usual (for about 40 minutes or until masa is firm).
Whisk the sour cream, sugar and lemon. Serve tamales either warm or cold and drizzle the sour cream sauce over the top before serving.
Serve with a port wine or rich coffee. It will enhance the flavors of the chocolate and cherry.
