This bewitching drink is a blend of tart blood orange juice and a touch of sparkle, thanks to the addition of edible luster dust. Serve it as a signature cocktail or mocktail at your Halloween party to mesmerize your guests.
Ingredients
-
1 ½ cups fresh blood orange juice (about 4-5 blood oranges)
-
1 cup sparkling water (or club soda for mocktail version)
-
½ cup vodka (optional for a cocktail version)
-
1 tablespoon Melissa’s Organic Blue Agave Syrup
-
¼ teaspoon edible pearl luster dust
-
Ice cubes
-
Blood orange slices for garnish
Directions
Juice the fresh blood oranges until you have about 1 ½ cups of juice. Strain the juice if you'd like a smoother texture.
In a large mixing glass or pitcher, combine the blood orange juice, agave syrup, and vodka (if using). Stir until the agave syrup is fully dissolved. Add the edible luster dust and gently stir to create the magical swirling effect.
Fill glasses with ice cubes, and pour the blood orange mixture over the ice. Top each glass with sparkling water or club soda to add some fizz and bring out the swirling shimmer. Garnish with a blood orange slice on the rim for an extra pop of color.
Serve in potion-like glass bottles or in goblets to enhance the spooky atmosphere. You can even add dry ice to the serving area (not in the drinks directly) for a foggy, mystical effect.
Recipe Note
Note that the edible luster dust is safe for consumption and will give the drink an eerie, swirling effect that mimics a magic potion, making it perfect for a Halloween celebration. This drink can be made in larger batches for a party and served from a cauldron or a drink dispenser marked with a "Witch's Brew" label. Make sure to give it a good stir before serving to keep the luster dust shimmering. For a kid-friendly version, simply skip the vodka and replace it with more sparkling water or a splash of lemonade.
