Paprika is made from grinding the dried pods of the sweet red pepper called the Tomato Pepper.

Paprika releases its color and flavor when heated so makes an excellent garnish sprinkled over hot foods adding taste and color.

Paprika is strongly associated with Hungarian cuisine especially in chicken dishes and goulash. It is also used extensively in many spiced meat products like Spanish chorizos.

Paprika deteriorates quickly so it should be purchased in small quantities and kept in an airtight container away from sunlight.
