Celery root, also known as celeriac or knob celery, is a lopsided sphere speckled with whorls and crevices — the dimensions of a celery root range from baseball to cantaloupe size. The heavy brown skin once peeled away reveals a creamy white interior.

The mild flavor of Melissa's Celery Root is reminiscent of both celery and parsley and is enhanced when boiled, braised, sautéed or baked. Although the stems and leaves are edible, they are often removed before reaching the market.

This root vegetable is great for purees, gratins, soups, stuffing, stews and salads, making it the perfect culinary tool. Melissa's Celery Root may also be grated, julienned or shredded and added raw to salads.

Celery root from Melissa's are hand-selected for excellent quality. Choose small to medium roots that are firm and clean. Avoid soft spots, which indicate decay. Refrigerate unwashed in a plastic bag for up to a week or more.
