The most prevalent coloring of the Zebra Tomato is yellow - green, however the variety also grows in mixed colors including brown, red and yellow. These beautiful golf ball sized fruits start green with dark stripes and ripen to a yellow color keeping the green stripes.
The amazing sweet and tart flavor is very similar to a tomatillo. Zebra tomatoes are great in salsas and add an extra zing to salads.
Select tomatoes that are firm and bright in color with no bruises or overripe softness. Vines should be bright green and pliable.
Store fresh tomatoes in a cool, dark place, and use within a few days. Tomatoes should not be refrigerated; it nullifies flavor and turns the interior mealy.
