As a member of the cabbage family and a close relative of kale, Melissa’s Salad Savoy is often used in place of green and red cabbage. Grown in loosely packed heads of frilly green, white and reddish-purple leaves, Melissa’s Salad Savoy is more tender than green cabbage and milder in flavor.

Ideal for decorating displays of fruit or dips and appetizers, Melissa’s Salad Savoy may also be enjoyed raw in salads or cooked as hearty winter vegetable. The colorful leaves are sweet, while the stems are slightly bitter. Cooked in vinegar or served raw with a vinaigrette will help preserve Salad Savoy’s color.

Salad Savoy from Melissa’s is hand-selected for excellent quality. Look for fresh looking, richly-colored leaves. Avoid any limp or yellowing leaves. Store unwashed in the crisper section of the refrigerator, wrap in a damp paper towel and place in a plastic bag. For peak freshness, use within a few days of purchase.

Wash thoroughly and discard stem if tough. Use raw in salads or in place of spinach in recipes.
