Melissa's fresh methi leaves, also known as fenugreek leaves or Greek clover, are vibrant green, clover-shaped leaves with a powerful aroma that hints at maple syrup and celery, with a subtle underlying bitterness.
Methi leaves are a cornerstone of Indian cooking, gracing both vegetarian and meat-based dishes, where they are often prepared like spinach. Their slightly bitter yet sweet flavor pairs beautifully with a variety of Indian spices and hot peppers. They’re traditionally found in saag paneer (paneer cheese with creamy spinach), aloo methi (savory potatoes with methi) and methi thelpa (flatbread).
Look for fresh, green leaves with minimal yellowing and a pleasant grassy aroma. Store washed methi leaves in a tightly sealed plastic bag in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
