Store melons at room temperature. When ripe, the melon will emit a musky, floral fragrance and the skin near the stem end will be slightly soft to the touch. To prepare the melon, rinse the skin, slice in half and scoop the seeds from the center cavity. From there, slice into wedges with the skin on, or shave off the skin and cut into chunks. Store sliced melon in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
