During the month of August Melissa’s has partnered with a Central Valley grower to offer, in limited quantities, a collection of experimental red, green and black grape varieties that are still being developed for the larger commercial marketplace.
The BLACK GRAPE collection will consist of the varieties, JUPITER, MARS and JOY. Similar to the Concord grape, all three varieties have a full-bodied berry flavor that is slightly tart with musky undertones.
Grapes are fat-free, cholesterol-free, and sodium -free. A half-cup serving consists of about 50 calories; fruit contains naturally occurring sugars and is packed with vitamins, minerals, fiber and phytonutrients to promote good health.
