Mother’s Day is celebrated on the second Sunday of May. I am lucky enough to still be able to celebrate with my mom, who is 99 years old, and, as you can imagine, each Mother’s Day we share becomes even more precious.

While merchandising in the produce department one Friday, I watched a customer pick out an organic pineapple. He would flick it with his index finger to check for ripeness as he picked up each one.

It being June, we've all been starting to enjoy the fantastic selection of Melissa's organic summer fruit that has been showing up in our favorite stores; plums, peaches, nectarines, apricots, melons, berries, all at their peak flavor.

This amazing fruit has been around for centuries. The name is believed to have come from several places. One idea is that the name represents the plant’s runners, which were said to have been “strawed” or strewn over the ground in ancient times.

Springtime and fresh greens just seem to go hand and hand. Perhaps it's because this time of year makes us think about eating a little less heavy, or maybe it's just because Melissa's organic greens seem to be abundant in the marketplace.
