Celebrate Kentucky Derby Day or any day with the tradition of a Mint Julep!
Ingredients
-
5 sprigs of mint
-
Zest of 1 orange, removed with vegetable peeler
-
4oz. bourbon
-
2 oz triple sec
-
2 Tbs. Melissa's Honeycomb
-
1 Orange, cut into wedges
-
Crushed ice
-
2 splashes of seltzer water
Directions
In each glass combine 7 mint leaves, orange zest, and muddle for about 30 seconds to release oils from mint leaves and orange zest. Be gentle enough to not tear the leaves.
Add in orange slice, triple sec and bourbon.
Fill glass with ice and a splash of seltzer water to fill the glass.
Top with another orange slice and a good amount of mint leaves for garnish. Enjoy!
Recipe Note
- To create a quality drink, use the freshest ice possible, quality produce and ingredients.
- Club soda contains added minerals for flavor. Seltzer water contains none.
- If you do not have a muddler, a wooden spoon or fat chopstick works well. Just be gentle.
